THE WINE ROUTE
While following the itineraries of the Road Chianti Colli Fiorentini you will be guided by the tourist signs which can be identified by the distinguishing symbol represented by the lion rampant which since centuries is situated on the top of the historical tower of Arnolfo in Florence, inserted, for the occassion, in a frame of greens hills and cypresses.
From Florence, after Scandicci, you cross the woodland hill of Roveta until S.Vincenzo a Torri on the provincial road S.P.98. Then proceed on the S.P.12 towards Ginestra. After the locality La Luna, you will reach Lastra a Signa. Afterwards follow the national road S.S.67 along the river Arno until Montelupo Fiorentino from where the S.P.73 leads to Malmantile. Vineyards, hills, handicraft of various kinds, in particular the ceramics, are the main attractions of this area.
From Florence you drive to Galluzzo, Certosa, and then to Tavernuzze from where you take the provincial road S.P.69 to Impruneta. Afterwards you follow the S.P.70 to S.Gersolè. As an alternative, you leave from Florence to S.Felice a Emma, then take the S.P.70 until S.Gersolè, where you join the first route. The communal roads lead you to Grassina, Ponte a Emma and then to Bagno a Ripoli. Proceed to S.Donato in Collina and then take the S.P.89 to Bombone where you follow the S.P.90 until Rosano. Returning back to Florence, crossing the Arno, the national road S.S.67 leads to Sieci. Here you proceed to Molin del Piano and to Vetta le Croci. From here you reach Florence through the historical centre of Fiesole. It is a very fascinating road of vineyards, olive groves, handicrafts, history and monuments.
From Cerbaia you take the provincial road S.P.4 which lead to Montagnana where you take via di Romita which leads to S.Quirico in Collina, S.Pancrazio and Romita. From here you follow the national road S.S.2 to Tavarnelle V.P. and Barberino V.E. The route continues on the S.P.49 in the direction of Marcialla from where the S.P.79 leads to Montespertoli and Baccaiano. Particularly this road allows to appreciate the charm of Florentine hills rich of vineyards, olive trees, cypresses, villas and castles.
You drive from Rignano sull’Arno, through S.Clemente to S.Ellero up to Donnini, S.Donato and finally to Reggello. From here you take the direction to Figline Valdarno and then the S.P.16 to Ponte agli Stolli. Now follow the national route S.S.69 until Incisa Valdarno from where the provincial road leads you back to S.Donato in Collina. Here you join the yellow Route. Along this road you enjoy the beauty of the Arno-Valley. Both sides are rich of typical products and handicraft.
